The Word of the Kingdom
This past Sunday Doug Hon continued our series on the parables of Jesus, speaking from Matthew 13:1-9; 18-23 regarding the “word of the kingdom”.
Use the following questions to reflect on how to apply the message to your life:
1. We saw how Jesus is the “Logos” or Word of God. Your desire for and how you respond when the word of God is preached, taught or read is ultimately a reflection of your attitude towards Jesus Himself. How are you responding to the word of God? Are you critical of the preached word or are you humbly being intentional to first and foremost apply it to your own life?
2. Doug warned us of how easy it is for our hearts to get hard to the word of God. Take some time to consider your own heart and what things might be causing your heart to get hard and insensitive to the word of God.
3. Finally, Doug asked the question: “Are you bearing fruit?” If we are truly born again we will bear fruit. Take some time to soberly evaluate how fruitful your life is. What fruit are you presently seeing in your own walk with God? What kind of fruit are you bearing in the lives of others?
Take some time this week during your time with God to read Matthew 13, looking specifically at the parables of the Kingdom.
